One Ballot Measure for 2024
Two Proposed Ballot Measures
1. Gender-Neutral Constitutional Language Amendment (listed first because it’s already on the ballot)
2. Right to an Abortion Amendment
3. Removing Grocery Sales Taxes

Gender-Neutral Constitutional Language Amendment
on ballot: November 5, 2024
This would replace male terms with gender-neutral terms, no longer ignoring women.
We regard a “yes” vote as helpful to the goal of stopping discriminatory practices, which in turn will ultimately help the goal of ending violence.
See Ballotpedia page for information and updates.
Current status: legislatively referred and on the ballot.
Background: South Dakota had a trigger ban to stop abortion entirely and this is now in effect because of Roe being overturned. The proposed amendment would undo this.
Abortion Isn’t a “Right”: It’s a Wrong against Women
Setting aside the violence done to unborn children, a point which proponents of this measure steadfastly ignore, the rhetoric they use about women also steadfastly ignores harm done. Here are some of the Consistent Life Network’s blog posts that explain this. They can offer good ideas for opponents of this measure to use in their work:

Ballotpedia lists the organization sponsor as Dakotans for Health. But beware: this same organization is working on the initiative to codify Roe v. Wade. Accordingly, expect any interaction with them to require special care.
