Washington Referendums

One Proposed Ballot Measure for 2024(?)

For the full list of referendums we’re tracking, see our home page.

Previous measures we were tracking for possible 2023 elections did not make their needed signature count.

Reproductive Freedom Amendment

Hoped for Ballot: Not clear

Abortion ReferendumThe Ballotpedia page for this is not yet established at this writing.

Current Status: On December 21, 2022, state senators filed Senate Joint Resolution 8202, which would amend the state constitution to declare abortion as a right.

It reads:

“The state shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom decisions, which includes the individual’s fundamental right to choose to have an abortion and the individual’s fundamental right to choose to use contraception.”

We regard a vote “no” as helpful to the goal of ending violence.
