Amarillo Proposition A
Sanctuary City for the Unborn
result: lost with 59.5% voting no
Because this measure provided for extreme measures such as restricting travel, a feature that could be seen as overly harsh, and Amarillo is in a state that already bans abortions, we’re not assigning this a “tragically, failed” image. The concept of “sanctuary cities for the unborn” can be a good one when done well.

See our Topic Page: Finally Abolishing Slavery
California Proposition 6, Remove Involuntary Servitude as Punishment for Crime Amendment, should have been on our list because of our concern for finally abolishing slavery. Unfortunately, the amendment was defeated, 47-53%.

We put this under the “war” category because so many immigrants to the U.S. are fleeing gang wars and violent government repression. It also clearly belongs under “poverty” and, to some extent, racism.
