Current status: Legislatively referred for the ballot.

Note that the wording only bans discrimination against persons because of pregnancy outcomes and reproductive health care and autonomy. It doesn’t mention abortion nor safeguard its provision. It may well nevertheless be presented as doing so in proponents’ publicity.

Abortion isn’t Equality
Setting aside the violence (and therefore lack of equal protection) done to unborn children, a point which proponents of this measure steadfastly ignore, the rhetoric they use about women also steadfastly ignores harm done. Here are some of the Consistent Life Network’s blog posts that explain this. They can offer good ideas for opponents of this measure to use in their work:

For another approach that might be helpful for referendum, legislation, or seeking of foundation grants or other help, we have a report of all the ten (of 51) Planned Parenthood Centers in New York that don’t have a Community Health Center within five miles. Having a CHC or similar service provider near the PP center may draw people away from the PP center for such medical services as well-woman exams, STD testing, and family planning, thereby taking them away from an abortion-promoting environment.
